Angel's Call

Between the twilight of the stars
Resounds the musical notes and bars
Which dance beside the moon that beams?
Reflections of rainbows caressing our dreams

Oh, how the cover of fleeting dusk
Opens the shadows of this trust
Collected in a collage of words
Sonnets of a lesser purge

What lies in our earthly passage?
Inside our souls is there a message
For time moves in a ghastly haste
We seek to find just what we chase

Is reality the quicken of our fate
Do we travel this road for our sake?
Does destiny resides in the falling sands
Can death be the drummer of the band?

The hopes to a much better life
Away from misery and much strife
Will cascade towards a somber end
To those who die with mortal sins

I feel that justice has a price
It comes in the roll of the dice
Moving in flows of wishful might
Brings a sparkle to the night

In the rainbows of pure delight
Lives the saving grace so bright
It’s given free to one and all
Who listens to the Angel’s call?

Sweet Dreams

Dedicated: My Far Away Friend

If I could lead you by the hand

Towards the summit of this land

What marvels the eye would see?

In their glance towards serenity

For in this range of snow and ice

Lay valleys of love that do entice

One to a different kind of life

An aroma of much lesser strife

Inside the shadows of our homes

Grow the gardens soon to loom

With seeding flowers and singing birds

A sure sign that spring will soon emerge

As we transverse the ice blue lakes

We’ll walk along smooth sands that date

To a calm and kinder time of fate

Where souls contrive and hold no hate

Along the grassy plains which crest

Upon the base of mountains we’ll test

The inner strength of nature’s best

In retaining the spirit of this quest

We’ll forge together always as friends

For in the end our thoughts will trend

From special feelings we shall beam

Beyond the cosmos of sweet dreams

Darken Dens

Way down deep within my soul
A howling wind is blowing
Sending chills ever so cold
I try to keep from showing

Knowing not where I'm going
makes it feel surreal totally unknowing
Towards the center of something glowing
My heart seems to be flowing

Wondering if all my thoughts are shallow
I'll thread lightly hoping all to be mellow
Marching to a tune not sure how to follow
On a road so callous and hallow

As I seek what lies around the bend
I pray and hope a kindness will lend
A helping hand to a man whose sinned
Upon wilderness filled with darkened dens

I've hurt those I love I want to make amends
Before time runs its course my soul commends
To a brightness within a never ending light
For I am ready to meet this glorious sight

I have set my house in order
At the river's end I'll cross that border
Into a grace so lined with peace
I'll dine at the table of a new feast

The sting of death I once thought I feared
I know embrace with joyful tears
My time at hand has been blessed
By the Master's shield and his regal crest

Entangled

Within the elegance of time

Lay the whispers inside the lines

Holding memories ever so fine

Some that hurt some that binds

As one rides the current of air

Life strides by sometimes unfair

Can be compared to a spider’s lair

Traversing the web will we dare?

Many get caught, and entangled

Within the lies hate will strangle

Leaving some to struggle and dangle

What’s left been completely mangled?

Those with goodness in the heart

Will fare better in their start

Avoiding the traps as they dart

Between the madness inside the dark

Dodging the pitfalls along their plight

Still struggling in this fight

The Tempter tries to steal the night

For truly he is a blight

Once the web is left behind

We’ll reach a land so ever kind

On golden tables we shall dine

In wait of the Son, voice divine

Begin the Beguine

In memory of my Mother & her favorite song

Upon this face where lines so grace
Are bright patterns that do interlace?
The good, the bad, the in between
Some parts I wish had never been

Open hearts can be cold and chilling
Accepting thoughts deep and willing
Mostly holding sweet memories
At times containing calamities
Ones span can be short, or even long

Much like an uncompleted song
If short, our notes will be diminished
If long our music will reach a finish
Time and age go hand in hand

Must like the players in a band
Marching robustly upon the sands
Heading towards a unknown land
In reaching that point of time
Questions will form within the mind
Why is life suddenly speeding up?
Like a runaway lurching truck

Racing on pavement soon to end
Upon a road so straight not even a bend
Fears linger as the hourglass empties
Can my tunes be reaching finality?

So I will follow the winds that blow
Leading to musical notes that flow
Across the golden sands of time
In search of a place richly sublime

Wishing my words begin the beguine?
Will that be the last of all I see?
What lies beyond the unbent road?
The start of a new song about to explode

Second Time Around

Does one sleep within a dwelling
That's locked with a sacred key
Can a soul lie open and ever so willing?
To share sweet memories

Can one hear the call of transgressions?
Which echoes inside sad sorrows?
Or do we ignore the tell tale lessons
The warnings which quell silent morals

I've tasted the chill of all we lost
Arriving at night in howling winds that bay
The different ways I made you cross
Accounts for the errors from my ways

I hear the call of loneliness
From dreams shared from this bed
I'll prepare a better closeness
To this man I came to wed

Upon the swells so well tossed
I'll rid myself of this veil
Regretting the passion I somehow lost
Now found again on this ship we sail

From a man who's been ever so sound
I hope to discover that very thought
Is love better the second time around
By renewing a vow I'll never doubt

Tenderness resides in remaining years
Tightly held our hands will enlace
The passing of time amid flowing tears
Signals togetherness as our hearts embrace

A Spider's Behind

Roland kisses a spider’s behind
To the Beacons Gals he owes this line
Due to the words he leaves as rhymes
Now this photo will be the sign

He’s a true Texan not mad but kind
Doreen and Norma he treats unjust
Sometimes he puts himself in a bind
But others think he is a plus

To the Na Sayers who I’ve let astray
I ask forgiveness for my terrible ways
It’s just the style of the way I play
I mean no harm in all I say

Even to my wife I act this way
Craziness seems to be a part of me
At times I do make her day
Even when I run to the loo to pee

It seems I put my foot in my mouth
Every time I open my trap
Many will think I’m a louse
But in the end I’m caught like a rat

Webs of Time

What lurks inside a breathless thought?
Which conjures regrets so keenly sought?
Of love we’ve shaped but somehow lost
Leaving pains of remorse at a priceless cost

It seems I’ve kept a life condensed
Filled with mistrust and much offense
Enough to drive us far apart
Creating a hate within our hearts

Sparked by a painful lustful past
Much like the members of a cast
I’ve come to realize just how far
We’ve sunk into this dismal mire

Now destiny has come to right the wrong
Committed together we’ll create a new song
Of love once known but lost in the dew
Cleared by the winds from the mist that blew

For in the meandering webs of time
United in love we shall find
What is hoped to be divine
From this song we will shine

A tune to a much brighter day
Richness abounds in words we’ll say
Renewed by passion we begin anew
Into a domain with skies so blue

Where reality is filtered no blemishes roam
With endearing love readily installed
All spirits united acting enthroned
We walk to the cadence where love is enthralled
